Kitikmeot youth embark on 12-day canoe trip…

JULY 17 2020 Twenty-four youth from Nunavut and the Dehcho are taking advantage of the pandemic’s tourism lull to get on the water and learn from experienced canoe guides.

Their trip through the Pensive Lakes loop, starting and finishing at Tibbitt Lake, will last 12 days and involves the chance to sample basic whitewater conditions.

Canoe expedition for Nunavut youth builds strengths

September 25, 2020 “On this trip, I learned a lot of things. This means the world to me,” writes Jordan Allukpik, 15, from Kugaaruk, Nunavut, after a 12‐day expedition in the sub‐Arctic wilderness 100 km northeast of Yellowknife. “My fav thing about this trip was getting to meet new friends, paddling along with the rapids, and everything else. This trip was super fun.”

Ayalik alumnus becomes trip leader in training …

JULY 30, 2020 You may be wondering what, if anything the Ayalik Fund is able to do during this rather strange summer. We had thirty youths slated for various programs in NWT, Alberta, and three different Ontario locations — the expected array of camps and canoeing and tall‐ship sailing. Most of this was unavoidably cancelled. But not all!
